These tall backed chairs are for outdoor use and were designed following an invitation to exhibit at “Art of the Garden” at Greywalls House, East Lothian in 1994. The exhibition was organised by the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, where Ian Lambert later showed work in “3 Ways” with furniture designers Mary Little and Ed Teesdale.
The Host of Chairs went on to be shown at “Le Chaise” at the French Institute (1995) organised in conjunction with Glasgow School of Art; the sculpture park at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire (1995); and at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire (1996), after which the chairs disappeared.
